Another birth anniversary of the greatest apostle of Truth, Peace and Non-violence has come and gone. The world, once again, was flooded with sermons to follow the path shown by this divine human being. Our own country, which takes pride to have the honor of being his birthplace, is, at the moment, the worst violator of these heavenly virtues. Our self-centeredness has made us so depraved that we fail to see beyond our nose. Our petty self-interest and greed for power and pelf has blinded us to such an extent that we will not bat our eyelids even to barter or gamble away our motherland's sovereign status. The utter callousness in our political leaders, administrators and statesmen that has failed to move their nobler feelings, if they have any, at the senseless destruction of precious human lives has made it crystal clear that only a savior can stop the brutal killings and save the nation from going to irreparable ruin. At the present juncture, we thought, only one person, King Gyanendra could take the role of the savior. And we did exhort him, time and again, to act. And act he did and also generated a great deal of euphoria and expectations amongst the masses throughout the Kingdom. But the mechanisms working subsequently have not only dampened the euphoria but contributed to alienate the sympathizers. The intolerant policies and draconian laws that have been promulgated in recent days have definitely made a negative impact at the popularity of the monarchy. This may not sound palatable to King Gyanendra. But that will be only our misfortune. We cannot take resort to lies and sycophancy. We know we only have to solve our problems. There could be no help from external forces without strings. And that, too, if it does not hurt their own interests, long term and short term. For the quick solution of any problem the priority is to spot the real cause. It is, indeed, quite incomprehensible why we are vacillating to put our fingers on the root cause of our ailment. Shutting our eyes, afraid to look at the huge Trojan Horse, we are aggravating our miseries and behaving like weak-kneed nincompoops. It is a time to prove to the world, once again, that we have not yet lost our reputation of being a brave nation and can defend our sovereignty and independence at any cost. Let all those quislings who are playing Mir Jaffars know that except a handful of their mercenary followers, they will hardly find any support if we do not give in to the uncalled for external pressures. And King Gyanendra only can do it. We do trust and sincerely believe that the teachings of Buddha will grant him wisdom and strength to rise up to the occasion and save our nation.
