Hospital In Malekhu

With the objective of providing basic health and accident relief services to local people and travelers, Nepalese as well as Italian NGOs have come together to open a hospital in Malekhu area in Prithvi highway.

The Malekhu Highway Hospital, which was built in loving memory of late Renato Andreno, founder member of Amici Del Monterosa – an Italian social organization, was opened on October 22, 2005 with the noble objective of serving the local community as well as accident victims.

In high appreciation of its noble gesture in supporting the construction of a highway community hospital, the Amici Del Monterosa was offered certificate of appreciation. On behalf of Nepalese NGOs supporting in its construction, Nima Nuru Sherpa spoke about the importance of the hospital and how it would help the local community.

The hospital was constructed with the financial support of Amici Del Monterosa, Accident Victim Relief Agency and Friends of Nepal. The local community and Benighat VDC provided material, labor and land support. Renato was an accomplished adventure photographer who promoted Nepal through his breathtaking photographs.

The hospital provides all kinds of emergency services as well as maternity services. “The location of this hospital is significant as travelers to 65 districts of the country have to move from this highway. An emergency hospital catering to accident victims was highly needed at this place,” said Hariman Lama of Incentive Tours during the inaugural function.

A note of earnest gratitude was also offer to Mr. & Mrs Silvio, alpinists from Italy who helped in the hospital construction. They were also granted honorary life member of the hospital management committee. Chief Guest of the inaugural program Augustino Pienna, Consul General based in Kolkata, expressed happiness over the construction of hospital and highlighted its role in promoting people-to-people relations. Rajendra Pandey, former MP, chaired the program.
