2nd SECOND IMPRESSION

Such erratic behaviors of politicians must come to an end

Why the lay men of this donor driven beggar nation possess a sort of allergy for their national leaders has come to the open. It is, however, not for the first time that these common men have found that their leaders were as corrupt as any thing. In the process, the denizens have also discovered that their leaders through their eloquent lectures preach sermons for the consumption of the common men. However, when it came for its observance on their own part, the whole thing, read the sermons, were thrown to the waste baskets.

The situation has already taken a different dimension and that presumably very soon the lay men would manhandle the corrupt leaders the moment they will come to the streets. How the declared corrupts will behave then with the common men will have to be watched.

The corrupts have their own family in Nepal. When it comes to the occasion of accumulating wealth and the likes, there has been seen unbreakable friendship in between the ruling and the opposition party members. Instances abound for such golden handshakes. It has been rightly said that birds of same feather, flock together. Any one could see, be they the lawmakers of the congress or for that matter from the main opposition, on questions of squeezing the national exchequer they become one and possess single voice and that being grabbing of the money for their personal ends.

However, such behaviors of Nepali lawmakers have been exposed at times in the past. The tragedy has always been that no competent authority as yet been able to penalize such personalities who have almost become like a moth for the national exchequer.

What becomes really surprising and puzzling as well when one sees in the very list of the names of "authority misuser" personalities on whom the national population still possess some love and respect. A lay man becomes dumbfound when he sees the name of the former Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai in the said list. Equally painful becomes the episode when one sees the name of Ms.Sailaja Acharya in the list of the authority misuser. Undoubtedly, these two personalities could still be considered to be- lesser evil comparatively speaking- than what their other colleagues could be said of.

The point is that these two leaders from the congress camp have been found misusing the vehicles provided by the Nepal Electricity Authority at time when they were in power once upon a time. Lu.A.Cha 73 is the Prado vehicle number which is still being used in Bhattarai's name. Later comes Ba.A Yan 1379 Prado vehicle which is seen yet being used or misused by Ms.Shailaja Acharya. Notably, Ms. Acharya is a personality who was sacked from her ministerial portfolio when she divulged that the ministry of agriculture housed corrupts and corrupts only. However, the vehicle occupying business illegally puts question mark on her integrity. The same could be said of Bhattarai.

The daddy of them all is the vehicle of the NEA that is being misused by the Prime Minister's secretariat (private one). However, the NEA says that who has been using this vehicle the office does not have any inkling on the matter. Ba.A Yan 1371 Jeep could be seen being misused by "Prime Minister's men". This is the climax.

One could easily guess that the Prime Minister would not use the rag-bag-bobby-tail jeep in question. He has Lauda air to use at his disposal. However, some unscrupulous elements belonging to the coterie of the Premier could be nabbed in this regard.

Then comes the vehicle Ba.A Yan 948 Pajero which has been practically captured by NSP lawmaker Hridayesh Tripathi; Ba.A. Yan 1245 pickup pocketed by MP Arjen Prasad Joshi; Ba.A.Yan 4573-Red Plate jeep is with former water resources state minister Ram Bahadur Gurung; MP Uma Kant Choudhary owns now Ba.1.Yan 853 jeep; MP Shiva Raj Joshi too has in his possession the jeep with number Ga.1 Yan 24; likewise MP Gopal Man Shrestha owns now the jeep with number Ba.1 Yan 1271 and MP Narayan Sharma has almost become the master of the vehicle Ba.1 Yan 924.

God is simply great.

While writing these lines, I'm reminded of a brief program at the Asian Development Bank, Kathmandu office in which Dr. Richard Vokes had told the attending media men about the leakage seen in the NEA office. I can't imagine what would happen to him when he would see these revelations made daringly by government controlled and owned The Gorkhapatra the other day.

Interestingly enough, so far none of these "luminaries" have sent back the vehicles to its real owner-the Nepal Electricity Authority.

This stubbornness on the part of these noted "culprits" is noteworthy. The NEA workers union too apparently has been pressing its own administration to press the "squeezers" to send the vehicles back at the earliest.

A day will soon come when these fake owners of the state owned vehicles will too be manhandled by the irate mob. The people will take the law in their own hands. Let such ugly scenes not happen. However, if this does happen, perhaps would most unfortunately be the suitable penalty for the erratic ministers, former ministers, former lawmakers and so on and so forth for their disgusting and most irritating conducts.

However, when the process of manhandling in the streets will begin will have to be patiently awaited. A demonstration of people power is round the corner.

A case of blatant misuse of authority. Shame!Shame!! Poppy Shame!!!
