Speaker's hair raising disclosure! Speaker Tara Nath Rana Bhat some times speaks the truth. In fact he is the one among the crowd of the many in Nepal, especially in the political arena, who dares to speak the truth at times. In the past as well Speaker Bhat had been kind enough to expose some of the very "internal" nitty-gritty's of Nepal's existing politics which in so many ways had caused irreparable damage to the functioning of the system now in place. The fresh blunt allegation made against the ruling party ministers by the Speaker should be seen in this light. Speaker Rana Bhat surprised many a brains in Nepal when he summarily told at an intellectual gathering the other day that Nepal's ministers do take bribes through the kind courtesy of their own high ranking administrative staffs in the ministry. The allegation as it does come from a very senior politician of the country who is also seated in a very prestigious post merits attention of the Nepali intellectuals. We find nothing to talk against to what Speaker Rana Bhat has told in public. In effect what Speaker Rana Bhat has disclosed only recently, the Nepali media had been writing on those lines but the tragedy had been that the media's reportage made on that count had in one way or the other been rejected by the corrupt ministers and that too through the use of some media men belonging to their pocket. Hence the whole affair used to get diffused thus confusing the people more and more. However, Speaker Rana Bhat this time has exhibited ample courage in exposing his own party colleagues who at the moment were seated in the ministry and supposedly amassing wealth in order to enjoy the rest of the life in a befitting manner. The fact is that the erstwhile regime collapsed of its own weight. The ministers of the former regime cared more for their own personal benefits instead what should have been for the country. The people retaliated in a violent manner causing the system to go to the dogs. The fresh revelations made by Speaker Rana Bhat therefore forces us to conclude that the amount being transacted by the ministers through their own ministry official must be a hefty one. If Rana Bhat's revelations were any clue then it is time that the CIAA initiate penal actions against the ministers who could be engaged in such ugly processes. The CIAA authorities in the process could get some more substantial hint from the Speaker for we think that a personality of his stature must remain always prepared to assist the authorities that deal with such heinous crimes. Nepali society today is desperately seeking some sort of justice in these horrible and disgusting affairs that has been going on for over a decade or so and that too in the name of the system. Holding responsible positions and not being responsible at all to the assigned job could have already become a norm in Nepal, however, what is not just and judicious is failing to bring to book those corrupts who have already become synonymous to democracy. If this were Nepali democracy then we salute this democracy and the cracy being led by such crats.. The fact is that the final outcome of Speaker Bhat's declaration will vanish in the thin air as usual. However, what is for sure is that Speaker Bhat has hit his own party ministers at an opportune moment. How the CIAA authorities take up Speaker Rana Bhat's blunt declaration will have to be carefully watched.
