Either join or face condemnations The King has once again reiterated his firm commitments in favor of the present order and that he would not settle for less than penalizing those bureaucrats, politicians and the men who fortunately were engaged in "amassing wealth" during all along these thirteen "democratic years". If one were to analyze the Kings Western region speech carefully what comes to the fore is that while he on the one hand appeals all the political parties who now appear to have kept a comfortable distance with the King and His government for reasons that need no further explanations, on the other the King would go alone in restiring peace in the Kingdom come what may. This if further analyzed makes it abundantly clear that in doing so or saying so the King wishes apparently to expose all those politicians or for that matter the political parties who have been exhibiting their reluctance either in being a party to the Maoists-Government talks or even facilitating the said talks to come to a happy conclusion. IN doing so the King also sends signals to the population to watch the very activities of those who wish the talks to fail and condemn if that does happen in effect. The King at one point hints the political parties who differ with the monarch on so many counts since October 4 last year and show their total reluctance in the impending Government-Maoists talks, or even who wish the talks to fail for unknown reasons that if they refrained from facilitating the said talks with the rebels would mean that the countrys history, albeit a political one, would never forgive them for their unwarranted activities. The message clearly from Western region is for the political parties which is a fervent appeal mixed with a challenge also. An appeal it is since the King says that we might differ on several political counts but then one had to compromise ones ideological theories when it came to the nations overall interests and more so when it centered around the restoration of peace in the country. It is an appeal apparently because the King invites all differing political powers to cooperate in the talks that are yet to be held in between the rebels and the government. IN effect the King wishes to send signals to the political parties hinting them all to come to the forefront and solve the issue that has been continuing for long many years which has taken its heavy toll. It is a challenge in the sense that the King has hinted the political parties that gone are the days that they enjoyed during the early 1990s. The challenge is in a very subtle form which maintains that the peace process that has already begun will continue come what may. This means that whether or not the political mainstream joins or cooperates in the talks, the talks will continue till a logical end is there. This is a challenge to the political parties because the Kings statement underlines the fact that since the majority of the population long for peace and that the political partys self-sought exclusion from the process would not be taken in good taste either by the peaceloving population or the nations glorious history. In effect this portion of the Kings speech is very hard to digest for the political parties. Neither they can say no to the restoration of peace nor can afford in being put in the countrys history as bad political boys. The dilemma is here. The political parties if join the talks or facilitate the talks would mean they were supporting the Kings move that began late last year. If they prefer to put hurdles in the peace process would mean having no place in countrys political history. It is a situation which is all similar to what is called being put to frying pan from the fire. Here lies perhaps Kings political acumen which definitely should have brought mental tensions in the minds of those political stalwarts who have yet to decide which way to go. But what if the King once again convinces all those who differ with his views? After all the King is the guardian of the nation and hence it would not be otherwise to suggest the monarch to invite all those who differ with him and work in a coordinated manner so that peace is restored and the country links itself with the already derailed electoral process. The absence of local government is already creating problems to the international donor community who now openly say that the electoral process must guide the system at the earliest. This means that they wish the peace process to begin at the earliest and that after the restoration of peace in the country, the country must embrace for parliamentary polls. The underlying message is loud and clear.
