Of the designs and the designers……fake or real

It is not that I like Girija Prasad Koirala for nothing. I like him and at times I adore him not only that we both hail from Biratnagar, but also because he has made us all proud of him for it is he who has ruled the nation for all along a good number of Nepal’s restored democratic years. The love in him for his hometown, Biratnagar, is such that as and when he feels depressed or is pressed to arrive at a very important national level decision, he is there inevitably. And look! When he is there, he is filled with an extra energy and does accordingly. It is altogether a different matter that he while in Biratnagar criticizes the monarch for reasons unexplained yet.

He is a man of action and inaction both. He is inactive while he is in the country’s executive chair. He remains inactive all along his tenure as the nation’s Prime Minister for he has so many things to do to keep his house and coterie in order. Add to this his penchant to see his German married daughter, illustrious Sujata, in a high profile party post. Hell fell upon those congressites that oppose Sujata being elevated a tp a rank as wished by her father. It is here again a very typical habit of the Koirala family and those in the hierarchy in the congress party that when it comes to the talk of Sujata being raised to a higher rank, all converge and press Girija babu not to take this fatal decision. However, Sujata is the one who is hell bent on acquiring one good and powerful post in the congress well within when her father is himself in a dominant position of the party.

Some say, Girija is congress and vice versa. I say it is hundred percent true. Can one imagine the congress party minus Girija Prasad? After all it is this political personality who has brought the congress party to this shape and size. Can one imagine any one in the congress after Girija to dare to scathingly criticize the monarch and that too uninterrupted for all along these fourteen months or so?

The fact is that Congress minus Girija will be a party I can’t imagine even.

Girija Prasad Koirala becomes suddenly active when he is not in power. He then begins observing demons pouncing on Nepal. The moment he is out of power, he claims that the nation will go to the dogs should he be not elevated to the power again. This is not all. He could be seen becoming suddenly active the moment he is replaced by some one. He then forges alliances with any one whom he thinks could remain instrumental in dislodging the one who has snatched his chair from him.

Add to this, he then begins seeing "designs" after "designs" only to destabilize Nepal. Some times he discloses the very name of the designer of the designs. Any body acting differently than his own comes under the ambit of a design, according to Koirala. Thanks that he has so far not uttered as to under whose design or at the instigation of which designer he has been designing his own designs. It is said that a designer could only trace others’ design if any.

When Madhav left for Lucknow to see his colleagues in the Maoists insurgency, it was a design for Koirala. However, it did not amount to a design when he himself hurriedly landed in Delhi strength from HongKong when he was supposed to land Nepal first and then supposed to go to Delhi. It was not a design because it was Koirala making a secret trip to Delhi.

When the Maoists were engaged in talks with the Thapa government, Koirala and Madhav Nepal did not lend any support to the talks. Question could well be asked as to under what or whose design the political parties did not come to push the talks ahead so that a positive solution could have been secured? Which designer forced them not to support the talks? By the same token what could also be asked of them is that what designs they have now vis-à-vis the Maoists?

How nice it would have been that both Madhav and Koirala supported the Thapa government’s initiation of the talks that failed miserably? Is it that they wish to see more Nepali blood spilling over on either sides? Is it not that any one being killed in this or that side is that of a Nepali first then……

Enough is enough. The designers or those who see designs in every event in this country should now realize that the time was ripe for exposing the designs, if any, and contribute to an early solution to the crisis that has been befallen on us all since seven years or so.

It’s time that Koirala and Madhav Nepal work together and assure the Maoists that mother Nepal will embrace them, read the men handling the "new regime", as well if they settle their differences with the "old regime" and restore peace.

Madhav Nepal’s activeness will be judged from his activities aimed at restoring peace in the country. But not by his fiery speeches.
