It is said that those who wish to support others on purely humanitarian grounds do not possess the means to support. Conversely, those who possess the means do not possess an attitude to extend supports to the needy ones. This means that the desire to support is best linked with a persons capabilities to accomplish the same. However, it has also been seen that if a person is determined to support others will do so even if or she was not that financially sound. What becomes important in this regard is the persons avowal or a penchant or even a sort of dedication to go in for societal upliftment and not the money he or she possesses. To some, money is everything. To some, it is simply a means to live a life with dignity and to some, money that is in excess must go for societal upliftment. Not all people can be declared a social worker. It is equally true that a true social worker is the one who is in essence been guided by his inner thoughts to proceed in this regard and not the one who does so only to attract public attention. Here we have a personality who possesses name, fame and colossal amount of wealth. He is a saturated person in the strictest sense of the term who began his business career under the patronage of his own august late father and within no time attained a climax in the sector he was engaged in to the extent that he now appears to divert his attention from business to the needy social sector. He sees his active involvement in the societal sector could do a significant job which will ultimately be in the larger interest of the nation. Indeed, his penchant to serve the poverty stricken Nepali society and that too in the spread of knowledge and skill in the country through the establishment of higher educational institutions must be considered a very pious move. Mr. Mohan Gopal Khetans avowal for the establishment of a seat of higher learning in Birganj is a welcome move in the sense that such declarations might provoke others as well to toe Mr. Khetans line which ultimately will benefit the country and the people. It is already an established fact that Nepals major political parties used the students and the educational institutions in the last thirteen "democratic years" for their political purposes making the students merely a political tool and in the process ruined the institutions and the students both. While the politicians would wish to see their political stronghold increasing in the educational institutions, Nepals newly emerging social sector on the contrary would prefer the increase in the establishment of a few more higher educational institutions in order to serve the country better. The industrial sector also in this regard will not lag behind should the population of a particular area so desired came to the fore when Nepals noted Industrial wizard and social worker, Mohan Gopal Khetan, last fortnight expressed his inner willingness to go in for the establishment of a University in Birganj, Parsa district, provided that the proposal in that regard had to come from the population of that particular area. Mr. Khetans solemn declaration came while he was speaking at a program that marked the 22nd anniversary of Hari Khetan Multiple Campus last fortnight in Birganj. The noted social worker however appealed the population of that part stating that if they proceeded in that direction he would be more than willing to support financially the mission for the establishment of the seat of learning, a University in effect. " I am here to cooperate you financially for the construction of the University", is what in effect Mr. Khetan said. Now it becomes a pleasant challenge for the people of Birganj on how they move for the establishment of the University for the construction of which Mr. Khetan appears really committed. His commitments is sure to attract the attentions of others as well which could be considered to be a good beginning in the expansion of educational institutions in the country. "I will fully and unconditionally support a proposal that pertains to the establishment of a Narayani University here", declared industrialist Khetan and bagged accolades from the attending gathering. Mr. Khetans declaration, we suppose, must open the eyes of the government and of those who have entered into the domain of business only to spin money that they wish to absorb in and among their own family members. We wish that Mr. Khetan also talked of opening primary schools in the remote mountainous areas so that the local kids too enjoy the benefits of education. For it is the education that makes a man a perfect man. In declaring so Mr. Khetan has also hinted his compatriots that opening of schools and higher seats of learning were not the jobs of the government alone and that those who were well-off too could take initiatives in this regard. All the best to you Mr. Khetan!
