Yet another
"incompetent" Premier!
Lets all agree that Prime Minister
Lokendra Bahadur Chand is thoroughly a gentleman. He is indeed. Concurrently, lets
all agree that he is the worst prime minister the country ever had in its political
history beginning 1950. That he is yet another "incompetent" prime minister,
followed by Sher Bahadur Deuba, gets reflected from his disgusting performances ( in
effect he hasnt performed at all) all along these bygone three months plus. That he
is a non-performer as he is being portrayed by the majority of the population also comes
to the fore when one is reminded of the total failure of Chand and his terribly lame-duck
government in even bringing to the leak the tasks that His Majesty the King had instructed
the prime minister to accomplish. Neither he has been able to restore normalcy in the
country nor he has been able to bring the Maoists to the table officially. He has even
miserably failed in managing a meeting with the leaders of the major political parties who
have been opposing the King for the latters October 4 move. All put together, Chand
is a Himalayan failure and hence he possesses no moral authority to continue in the post
currently he is in. The gruesome murder of Krishna Mohan Shrestha, the chief of the Armed
Police Force, on Sunday early morning by a band of unknown killers describes the law and
order situation in the country under the "dynamic leadership" of Prime Minister
Chand. In a country where the personalities who themselves head the security organizations
were not safe, to talk about the safety and security of the laymen should be a phantasm,
to say the least.
Without wasting time, we would wish to
suggest the incumbent prime minister to resign at the earliest on his own or else prepare
himself to get sacked by the constitutional monarch and meet the fate what his predecessor
had to embrace painfully.
It is time that the monarch too becomes
serious and initiates conferences participated in by all those who have been opposing his
political moves and invites suggestions from them and then acts accordingly. It is time
that the national leaders and the King cooperate with each other in the larger interests
of the nation. Failing to do so on time would definitely have its toll the form of which
is unpredictable. But for the King, the first act he should do now is to sack Prime
Minister Chand and bring in a set of others that could steer the nation in a much
efficient manner. This he should do by inviting major political parties and seeks their
genuine suggestions. We expect that the parties now in confrontational mood with the King
would come forward in the larger interest of the nation and its disillusioned population.
The King should also think that it is this set of prime minister Chand which summarily
failed in meeting his five point directives given to them at time of the installation of
this lame-duck set.
If Prime Minister Chand is wise and really a
very modest personality, he should facilitate the entrance of some one who could steer the
nation in this difficult juncture.
