Khetans hair-raising revelations must open CIAA eyes! Mad people take senile decisions. Senile people long for wild judgments. Understandably, wild people take crude conclusions. Not surprising therefore, brainless personalities take more often than not anti-nationalist resolutions. Thanks the Almighty that Nepal is being run by mad, senile, crude and brainless personalities and their decisions must be the one that contravenes the national interests if any. Of so many anti-nationalist conclusions arrived at by our defunct and practically redundant politicians during all along these thirteen so-called democratic years, the one that we are talking about in these columns pertains to the handing over of the management of one of the Nepal oldest banks, the Nepal Bank Limited, to foreigners. To be more specific, the NBL at the moment is being run by Irish management. What financial benefits the NBL has so far achieved by offering its management to the Irish people since a year and a half is not certain. However, what is for sure is that the handing over of the said Banks management to the foreigners did benefit the men who remained instrumental in the shady deal that transferred the NBL to the Irish people. What is clearly confirm is that the men behind the shady deal and the men now at the helm of affairs of the NBL have already made money and the sorry part of the whole story is that the men involved in the said affairs will have no interest as such whether or not the NBL continues to exist in the future. Mohan Gopal Khetan, the one industrialist of name and fame who also holds about ten percent of the shares of the Nepal Bank Limited alleges that the men who deliberately or, putting it more straight, pushed the NBL into the folds of the foreigners were none less than personalities like former Finance/Foreign minister, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat and a very renowned Lady of International repute, Madame Arzoo Deuba, the consort of former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba. Not very surprising therefore that the men involved in the plunder of the NBL, according to Mohan Gopal Khetan, belong to the Nepali Congress of both the factions: the synonyms of plunder and loot in the country specially after the alien supported movement of the 1990s. We have reasons to believe the revelations of Mr. Khetan and support his assertion that in doing so the Nepali establishment under the seductions of the said Congress men have tried to establish that Nepal has become a country now which could not take care of its own financial institutions and that some one from abroad must be brought to take control over our institutions. The Bank which was so efficiently being run by the Nepalese for the Nepalese in the past has suddenly gone into the hands of the foreign management and that the entire process would allow the foreigners to know the nitty-grittys of the Bank which, in our opinion, must have remained a guarded secret. Now that the things are not in the Nepali hands, lets pray that the foreign management does little harm to the institution. Khetanthe industrialist turned a sort of politician in the recent years, forcefully claims that Nepal did not lack personnel who could run any financial institutions as efficiently as by the aliens. When he says so, he is speaking the truth. We have dozens of such men who could accomplish such jobs as efficiently as others have been doing now. For example, the World Bank and the Asian Development Banks have awarded prestigiously posts to some Nepalese and the Central office of the UNICEF has one brilliant Nepali, for example. While this is the truth, what on the contrary is being given to understand by the men in the congress party that Nepal lacked competent personalities to run any institution of the sort of the Nepal Bank. Those who adhere to such views must have gone senile and they say so out of their frustrated and depressed brains, which is apparently abundant in the congress. However, this doesnt mean that the congress lacked extraordinary personalities. They possess in abundance. However, the fact is that those who are competent, are being deliberately sidelined by the powers-that-be in the congress and hence the domination of the depressed and anti-nationalist brains. If the manner in which the country is being run by the socalled democratic leaders of the sorts who overwhelmingly dominate the countrys politics, what could be fairly said is that one fine morning these senile leaders might invite foreigners to run the country by being in Singh Durbar. Khetan deserves deep appreciation in that he has dared to reveal such matters for public consumption. But will the lethargic CIAA-the anti-corruption body, dare to initiate actions against the allegations made by Mr. Khetan on the two illustrious congress men in order to bring out the details on how these two dangerous creatures remained instrumental in materializing this particular anti-national move.
