D A T E L I N E

India: Daddy of all of us
Nepal Bundhs forever!

I was roaming around the naked roads of Kathmandu recently ultimately to encounter Mr. Baburam Gorkhali. Baburam suggested all concerned to close Nepal forever. Not a bad idea indeed.

The 54 year old Baburam’s (though looks much older than what he should have been) idea, impressed me to the hilt. Yes, Yes I was thinking the same since long, my mind said.

But afraid of repeating the same in the public, which I am always. Could have been irrational, I used to consider prior to Baburam’s million dollar idea.

I asked to myself: what the hell difference would it make after all? When the mood of the country is on that line. Other countries too could copy our ideas if they like to do so.

Nepalese Economy

We have bundhs since 1990 on a regular basis. It’s a bonus that has come along with democracy. "Buy one, get one free", type model.

Every alternate days, we have a bundh. It has been like a sort of addiction to us all. We will suffocate if there is no bundh. Even the economy shows no sign of slowing down. I became happy, when one top-hat in the state apparatus exclaimed the other day! I had been considering the otherwise.

The ground reality is that do we have an economy as such? If there exists an economy, then it would be relevant to take stock of whether it is taking an upward trend or going down. I swear I do not have an answer, the government picked-up planner declared afterwards. It’s better not to have economy. No economy, no problem of determining the trends.

NC and UML: the experts

The Nepali Congress or the UML be they in the government or in the opposition (before October 4) they are the experts.

Kings Rule

But after October 4, I wonder what positions they (NC and UML) have in the Nepali politics.

The following lines are all fabricated. Do not take it for granted.

Girija Koirala had a bad nightmare, the same day Madhav Nepal too experienced the same horror..

Both of them were feeling very uneasy (in their respective Palaces). Both woke up from their bed and drank a glass of cold water.

They were thinking the same, what position they have now in the King’s rule in Kathmandu and the Maoists outside* the valley (*I said, Maoists outside valley because we had a total blockade in Kavre, a district in the east in the very vicinity of the valley, which meant they have had fully encircled the capital)

The countrymen are paying for their (read MN and GP) bad dreams in the bundhs, the traffic jams, the price hike and what not?

Surya Bahadur was a democrat!

First Election, after the restoration of GP’s version of Democracy, turned out to be a miserable one for Surya Bahadur. He was stoned out of his constituency. I still remember how he was greeted by stones in Banepa around 1992. But in the next election he won quite a good number of parliamentary seats. This made him to wear a coat usually "made for democrats only".

He is ruling the country since L.B Chand’s resignation. Now going Musharaff’s way. No more a democrat he is.

Or, some one pulling strings from behind. Who is behind? Or has he become a scapegoat)?

No need to worry folks, he will tell everything after he’ll be sacked Deuba’s way.

Maoists: Daddy of them all

In the recent past Maoists have shown no one could excel them when it comes to disrupting the daily lives of common people. Not even the UML or the Congress can match them. Thus Maoists have come as father of them all. Thanks Kantipur’s sagacity that comrade Prachanda is Number One News Maker.

India: Daddy of all of us

Is it the Maoists or India that is playing double?

Mr. Mahara was so afraid of Big Daddy’s threat loaded statement that he had to immediately release another tentatively apologetic statement. Stating that the high command is now in total control of all the cadres who attacked the Indian cargo vehicles at various places in Nepal and thus there will be no more such incidents in the future.

When will the day come when Mahara will announce that being a Nepali his party would not henceforth commit acts that plunder Nepal’s property-their own property.
