Understand gravity of the situation Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is not that a junk political personality as his cynics would make of him for his varied and rounded interpretations of the national politics. The fact is that he might appear not that witty compared to his rivals, both in the congress and the communist camps, however, what is for sure is that prime minister Deuba has this time around exposed some who count much in the national politics and economy by indicating in unambiguous terms that they were either prejudiced to his government's peace overtures with the Maoists or act as if to be innocent of the obtaining politics in the country. Prime Minister Deuba in the recent days has made it profusely clear that there is a set of businessmen controlling the economic sector of the country and some in the lucrative business associated with the Human Rights that they have made it a routine to censure the government alone sparing the other side for all what they have been doing in the name of people's war. In saying so Deuba hints that it is not the government alone that should be taken to task by the political animals or for that matter by the HR activists, but the other camp should also be criticized for their killings and extortions. The lame-duck prime minister, as he is in effect, prefers to indicate that those who criticize his government were doing so for fear of the Maoists and have made the government an easy target. The fact is that the countless HR organizations operating in Nepal were either controlled by the men of the congress or from the communists and hence it becomes a handy tool for the political men housed in the HR institutions to criticize the establishment for even a small mistake sparing the other side summarily for killings of greater dimensions. A political game indeed. All that Deuba wished apparently this time were that the people be informed of the blunders committed if any by both the warring rivals. What further he wished is that let those who criticize the establishment for having failed in bringing the Maoists to the talks should be equally sensitive in appealing the other camp to attend to the talks. However, this is not forthcoming is what the Prime Minister apparently meant. This is not to cover the excesses committed by the security forces. If they have exceeded the limits and made their targets to the civilians in the pretext of the Maoists, the forces must be brought to book as per the laws of the land. There should be no excuse for such gruesome killings. It is also not to take to task all the HR institutions but our writings are aimed at those who see every thing politically and appear determined to dump the allegations on the government side without calculating the other sides' fault. This should not happen. This would be unfair. In the process, what should also apply equally to the other side is that as and when they commit similar blunders they too should be condemned by the major political parties and HR groups without exhibiting their prejudices if any. The gist of this write up is that no Nepali should be killed either by the establishment forces or by those who are in the jungles in any pretext. The fact is that the national army, the people's militia and the men killed were all Nepali blood. Whosoever is killed are a Nepali national and the sons of the same soil. The men in the establishment and those residing in the jungles must understand that some inimical forces that are hell bent on disintegrating the nation were at work day-in-day-out and would not settle for less until the country is weakened both politically and economically. The present attack on Nepal is to weaken the nation-state socially as well. Let the men in the Deuba establishment and in Comrade Prachanda's camp understand this hidden fact. Sooner we all take note of this fact, the better for the nation. Failing to understand this hidden message will cause colossal damage to the social fabric of the nation that is already heading towards a precipice. A group of enthusiasts belonging to the media community have exhibited their genuine interest in supporting the conflict afflicted media persons and their dependents. This is a laudable move indeed simply because the ten year long conflict has affected the normal lives of the media men. Needless to say, some Nepali journalists have been killed in the process of collecting stories in the conflict-affected areas of the Kingdom either by the national security forces or by the armed rebellions. Guided by a sense of duty towards the remaining families of the media men who have been killed, this media group intends to be of tangible support to the victims of such sad incidents. The fact is that we are in knowledge that the dependents of the killed media men were suffering the worst and that their lives have become a hell for want of the needed support. Conflict Afflicted Media persons-Support Group, CAMP, reportedly would visit to some conflict affected areas and would collect the details of the plight of the remaining family members of the media men who have sacrificed their lives while on duty. In the process, CAMP office bearers plan to meet high level government officials and some kind-hearted international donors and would appeal these high institutions to be of some support to the conflict affected families who have lost their main bread-earner. Any support forwarded in the name of the CAMP would be sent to the conflict afflicted families judiciously and care would be taken that the support reaches to those who needed it the most. The CAMP believes that their Himalayan task would be made easier through such helps received both from the national and the international community. The donations thus received would be utilized in providing education to the kids of the media men killed and efforts would be made to manage jobs for the grown ups of the conflict afflicted families. The CAMP appeals to you all to come forward and help the families now in distress so that they too can serve the society and the nation.
