Dear Mr. Narendra P. Upadhaya, With regards to our conversation last
week at my office which you kindly published it in your newspaper "The
Telegraph Weekly" dated June 16, 2004, page 6 on "Opinion" column, I
wish to clarify some record of our talks which you may mix up in some details
information as follows: 1. Issue on the expansion of Trade,
Commerce and Investment between our 2 countries, FYI, I led NCC Delegation to
Bangkok on 19-23/05/2004 (not during 4 -9/03/2004) because
I was invited to join the delegation by the NCC President to be one of
the witness of the signing ceremony of the MoU between the President of NCC
with his Thai Counterpart on 20/05/2004 at the Thai Chamber of Commerce's office. Apart
from NCC's MoU another MoU was signed on 21/05/2004 between Mr. Ajaya Kumar
Mudbhary, President of Nepal -Thai Chamber of Commerce and
Industry with his Thai Counterpart (Mr. Krisna Sivakrisakul) at
the Nepalese Ambassador's Residence in BKK. This trip was the fruitful one
because of the Thai hospitalities and arrangements made all programmes went out
very well and success. 2. With regards to the cultural relations
between our two countries, on 4 - 9 March 2004, The Thai Delegation was in Nepal
(Not in Thailand) led by the Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports and
the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Thai Ministry of Culture as deputy leader of
the group together with senior officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand
and Senior officers from the Tourism Authority of Thailand - TAT as official
guests of the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviations of Nepal.
The MoU on cultural being discuss at the first stage during this trip. The
delegation went to Lumbini and Janakpur apart from Kathmandu according to the
programme arranged by Nepal side. 3. FYI, Nepal has not declared as the focal
point of the Economic Issue in BIMST-EC working Group but what I'm telling you
was that Mr. Binod Shrestha, President of FNCCI informed me that his office will act
as the focal point on Nepal's economic information and he will attend the First
BIMST-EC Summit Meeting in BKK with the Prime Minister Deuba's delegation during 30 -
31/08/2004. 4. For the bilateral cooperation between
Nepal and Thailand, Mr. Madhu Raman Acharya,Foreign Secretary, His Majesty's Government of
Nepal invited Dr. Tej Bunnag, Thai Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the
Royal Thai Government to attend the 4th Joint Commission Meeting (not Joint Ecenomic
Meeting) which Nepal play host this year during 26-27 January 2004.Both side
discuss in various issues concerned not only economic. The agreed Minutes of the Fourth
Meeting of the Joint Commission between Nepal and Thailand was signed on 27/06/2004 at
Sheetal Niwas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal in Kathmandu.At this meeting both
sides agreed to encourage the private sectors of both countries to increase their
business activities and agreed to exchange trade delegation between the 2 countries too.
NO MoU signed during this meeting. With my personal best regards and good
