Democracy: Not always important Niraj Aryal With the end to a month long Dashian-Tihar festival, a somewhat subdued looking political environment is sure to be active yet again. These media men This time around as usual, persons in the government exploited this subdued looking environment to the optimum by illegally distributing the taxpayer's money worth 4200,000 to their so-called party men and amongst themselves. This was confirmed by officials at the Prime Minister's secretariat as they requested the journalists to visit the respective party offices to get the names of those who were lucky to have obtained the money. This created ripples among the public as the so-called vigilant media exposed the incident this time around, previously the media men themselves were accused of illegally obtaining money from persons in the government during the festival period. Not surprising this time journalists who obtained the money were some high ranking ones holding some public positions but with no active newspapers at their back to defend the incident. Those exposing this incident could have been serving different partisan interest. Unlucky not to have received peoples money! Moha-sin: Satya Mev Jayate For those who feel Dr. Mohasin has committed a sin by inviting some media persons and by visualizing the unfortunate step, (i.e. what he previously said and now says he did not said that) that the Nepali politics might take has certainly brought the evitable fact to the public. However, the only question left to analyze is whether this unfortunate step comes from a back door or a front one, as Mohasin said? We the Nepalese have been addicted of change but the faces remaining intact. As the October 4 move was predicted this is also predicted. Nothing new in it. Girija's Pra-ja-tantra The dejected and rejected Koirala, Girija baboo came back from China, meeting some low ranking political figures as reported by some local newspapers. His meet with the press next morning after his arrival was very interesting. In his own words, " Democracy is not always important, as a leader you have to be careful with handover of power to the younger generation, you might not know whether they will turn up extreme left or extreme right". The 87-year-old leader is sure to remain president of the NC this time as well. Bad news indeed for the NC next generation. |
