Girija's assault
The only existing vocal leader of the so-called regression, Girija Prasad Koirala, returned from TIA (Tribhuban International Airport) before departing for some mass meetings in the mid-western region a fortnight ago. The aftermath of this incident was of course not unexpected one. Expected in the sense that the following days were full of Bundhs and vandalizing public and government owned vehicles as usual. A senior leader like GP could not have avoided such mayhem; he knows how to make issues out of non-issues. Breaking the record The 700 years of Muslim-Hindu fraternity was shattered into pieces, by probably the first ever-communal violence that took place against the Muslims minority last week. Standing at the heart of the only existing Hindu Kingdom, the two legendary mosques, we being Hindus take its presence as a matter of pride for us all, was very unfortunately vandalized by some sponsored disintegrative hooligans. Media houses, manpower agencies, international airline companies were also made the targets; the government remained as a mere spectator until everything was ruined. The incident came as an aftermath of brutal killings of 12 Nepalese illegal workers in Iraq by an Islamic terrorist group. Rumors Wild rumors a propos the Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani spread like wild fire in the Kingdom, which obviously ended with the news that reported the couples visited the Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square the same day, which was also shown on television. Bids afoot to weaken the Nepali monarchy? Delhi Visit Deuba's Delhi visit is coming at a time when the Nepali state is, as a matter of fact, burning. First, it was the incident that was obviously magnified by the NC -Girija, which rocked the nation thereafter, the NC could have easily avoided it, which they didn't. Politics! Second, it was the communal violence that reminded the public with the mini Godhra and Ayodhya type incident that takes place in India quite often. Nothing unusual for India. Communal violence occurring in our neighbor hood was a matter limited just to the television sets. Now we too have become a part of it. Contagious disease? All in all, these incidents that are coming in series are making the nation weaker than before. At this juncture, Deuba's Delhi visit could bring more losses to the nation than any rumored benefits. We have lost every time. Isn't it? India of course will have an upper hand while facing a nation that has a weaker societal fabric, a made-weaker palace, a nation rocked with 10 years of violent conflict. K Garne? |
