Born :   March 21,1928
Education : B. A. from Allahabad University, honorary Doctor of Literature degree conferred by Kuruchhetra University
Family :  One son, three daughters
Career :  Started underground political activities as a student:

a)   1958: Chairman of Advisory Council

b)   1959: Elected member of Upper House of Parliament

c)   1960: Minister of Agriculture, Forest and Industry

d)   1962: Member of Rashtriya Panchayat and Finance Minister

e)   1963: Deputy Chairman of Council of Ministers and Minister for Finance, Planning and Law and Justice

f)     1964-65: Chairman of Council of Ministers and Minister for Finance, Planning, General Administration and Law and Justice

g)   1966-73: Elected member of Rashtriya Panchayat from Dhankuta

h)   1966-1969: Prime Minister and Minister for Royal Palace Affairs and Finance

i)    1979-1990: Member of Rashtriya Panchayat

j)    1972-1974: Arrested under public security act and went on a 21 day hunger strike demanding political reform in the Panchayat

k)   1981-1983, 1997-1998: Prime Minister

l)    1990-2002: President of Rashtriya Prajatantra Party central working committee for two terms

m)   1994-2004: Elected to House of Representatives from Dhankuta constituency No 2.
