207 pickpocketers arrested in Kathmandu

According to the police, 207 people have been arrested for stealing cash, mobile phones, jewelry, and pickpocketing from passengers traveling in buses and microbuses operating in different places of Kathmandu.

It has been reported that police personnel wearing normal clothes have been traveling in public transport and operating in the bazaars in collaboration with transport businessmen from September 13 to October 14 to prevent pickpocketing in public transport, shopping malls and main markets in and around the ring road of Kathmandu.

To make the security system of Kathmandu Valley flawless, reliable, trustworthy and strong to normalize the life of the people and to ensure full security for the celebration of the great festival of Dashain, Tihar police said that the operation was launched.

The method used by pickpockets

In public buses, a group of up to 6 people can enter the bus at the rate of 2/2 people from different bus and find passengers with money.

It has been found that pickpockets use sign language against each other while pickpocketing. They are also seen using different languages.
