India reports 19,740 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday

India's COVID-19 tally rose to 33,935,309 on Saturday, as 19,740 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.

Besides, 248 more deaths were recorded since Friday morning, taking the death toll to 450,375.

Most number of deaths, 120, were reported from the southern state of Kerala, which has been the worst affected state in the country. It was followed by 59 deaths in the southwestern state of Maharashtra.

There are still 236,643 active cases in India, with a decrease of 3,578 during the period.

A total of 33,248,291 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far, with 23,070 new recoveries.
