1.4m Moderna vaccines arriving today

A total of 1.4 million doses of Moderna vaccine against the coronavirus will be brought to Nepal today.

According to Surendra Chaurasia, head of the supply management branch of the health service department, 1.497 million Moderna vaccines are being imported from the United States under the CoVAX facility. The vaccine will arrive in Kathmandu at 3:15 pm. On Wednesday, 600,000 Covishield vaccines were brought from India. The Moderna vaccine will be administered to children between the ages of 12 and 17 years.

Chaurasia said that an additional amount of 1.965 million Moderna vaccines will be brought on December 12. Just a few days ago, 184,400 Moderna vaccines were brought too. So far, 27.9 million vaccines have been procured in Nepal through grants and CoVAX. The department has stated that the government is preparing to procure 4 million Moderna and 6 million Pfizer vaccines for children and bring them by December 30.
