Children's treatment room with ICU at Beni Hospital

A pediatric treatment room with ICU (intensive care unit) has been set up at Beni Hospital in Myagdi district headquarters. The cell has been brought into operation from Tuesday by providing infrastructure and equipment with the help of the Gandaki state government.

Chairman of the hospital management committee Bel Bahadur Katuwal informed that the service has been started in the eight-bed capacity treatment room including ICU. "Earlier, children were being treated with patients of other age groups," he said. The cell has been brought into operation to make the treatment of children effective and systematic and to facilitate the care. Earlier, the hospital had only a warm-up room for children.

The building has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.8 million was allocated by the state government in the last fiscal year for the operation of the children's ward. A budget of Rs. 5.6 million was allocated for the construction of the building. Rs. 26.1 million has been spent on the purchase and connection of ICU equipment. Beni Hospital, which was upgraded from 15 to 50 beds in 2072 BS, has been adding equipment and treatment services for the last few years. The hospital is providing 64-bed services including emergency, outpatient, cochlear, and children, said Chief Physician Dr. Jitendra Kandel.

Earlier, the hospital had been providing endoscopy, intensive care unit, dialysis, oxygen plant with the facility to supply oxygen from the pipe in bed, eye treatment, dental treatment, own pharmacy, obstetric services through surgery. Citizens of Parbat and Baglung besides Myagdi also seek services from Beni Hospital. The 50-bed capacity building under construction has not been completed and the lack of doctors and health workers as per the schedule has become a challenge for Beni Hospital.
