The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended against using convalescent plasma, or "Blood Plasma" for COVID-19 treatment on the infected patients.

Convalescent plasma is a process of transfusing blood plasma from someone who has already recovered from COVID-19.

WHO says it is unproven if a COVID-19-free person's blood plasma can cure COVID. The need for ventilators has not decreased, and health conditions have not significantly improved among plasma therapy patients either. In a statement released on Monday, WHO stated that the treatment of blood plasma takes a very long time.

Experts have run 16 kinds of tests on 16,236 people with common, serious, and very serious COVID infections. Based on these tests, whose findings are published in the British Medical Journal, a panel of international experts associated with the World Health Organization suggested that blood plasma treatment is not effective for both mild and severe COVID-infected patients.

These therapies cost a lot and are proven to be ineffective, which are the ultimate reasons for WHO's disapproval of such procedures. Vaccines still remain the most effective form of treatment against the coronavirus.
