The service recipients of Yanggu village have been forced to live in darkness after the power supply was cut off for a week. Residents of the village in Simkot-8 of Humla have been spending their days in darkness due to power outage for weeks.
They complained that when the power supply was cut off, they were forced to spend the night lighting pine needles. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has not been able to supply electricity due to a problem in the distribution line from Heldung Distribution Center. Harkabir Shahi of the same village said that even though one of the two lines extended from the power station was working, the other line was closed for a week and they were deprived of electricity.
At present, 15 households have access to electricity in the village of 60 households, while 45 households have been forced to live in darkness, he said. Shahi complained that the NEA's Heldung distribution center did not take care of the problem even after a week of power outage.
He said that the locals were compelled to burn pine needles as their demands were not heeded even after repeated requests for repairs at the power distribution center. As no information has been given so far about the source of the power outage, it was not possible to contact the center.
