16,000 students to be vaccinated in schools

A campaign to provide the first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 has been introduced in all the schools of Kanchanpur district to protect adolescents from the coronavirus. Under the vaccination program, the health workers have started giving Moderna vaccines against corona to adolescents in the age group of 12 years to 17 years, born in the year 2005 to 2009.

Janak Kunwar, an official at the health office, said that more than 16,000 people have been vaccinated in the first two days of the vaccination campaign. "60,333 first doses of Moderna Vaccine have been provided to the adolescents to protect against COVID-19", he said.

Stating that vaccination has been provided for the vaccination program in coordination with the health branches of all the nine local levels of the district, the official said that the number of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 was 65,500 in the survey conducted last year.

He said that arrangements have been made to make the vaccine available immediately and monitoring is being carried out to make the vaccination program effective. No adverse effects have been reported so far. It has been said that children other than those studying in schools will be vaccinated by seeing their birth certificates in the health institution.
