The bridge constructed over Mawakhola three years back which connects Jhapa and Morang district has been collapsed as the swollen river eroded its Damak side base.

As a result, the road has subsided and only one-way traffic has been allowed. And it might collapse in the river after few days if traffic is allowed and initially result in traffic blockage, Nagendra Mani Neupane said

The whole road may be damaged if efforts to repair it have not taken on time, said local resident Nagendra Mani Neupane. Constructed three years ago with monetary assistance of donors, the 75.45 meters long bridge at Setumari in Damak-10 of Jhapa district links Jhapa and Morang districts.

However, the formal inauguration of the bridge has not taken place yet. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone of the project in 2071 BS.
