Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has emphasized on making higher education scientific, practical, employment-oriented, innovative and quality.

Addressing the 11th meeting and annual policy program of the Midwestern University today, he said that emphasis should be laid on the production of skilled manpower by making timely modifications in the curriculum of the university to guide the overall development of the country. He stressed the need to make higher education scientific, practical, employment-oriented and quality by collaborating with national and international universities.

Prime Minister Deuba said, “Everyone knows that the COVID-19 epidemic has affected all sectors of the world community, including Nepal, and that the education sector has been more affected as it is a more sensitive and vigilant sector. Even in such a difficult situation, the efforts made by this university to conduct examinations by conducting study and teaching activities through online and alternative means are commendable. ”

He expressed the belief that the university would play an important role in producing technically and professionally skilled manpower to uplift the living standards of the people by studying, researching, and marketing the existing natural resources, traditional knowledge, and skills for the overall development of Karnali.

He stressed the need to focus on enhancing the quality of education according to the national and international environment, making educational plans and programs research-oriented, and conducting contemporary studies of various disciplines and dimensions of social sciences. Prime Minister Deuba urged the present leadership to make necessary action plans to develop the university as a 'Center of Excellence' by successfully implementing various educational plans prepared by the university to link academic activities with the process of social transformation.

Mentioning that the achievement of investment in education will determine the future of each country, he said, "I believe that this university should meet the local and national needs specified in our national education policy and produce competent manpower to compete in the global labor market."

In the context of Nepali students and capital fleeing abroad for higher education, Prime Minister Deuba hoped that the university would make continuous efforts to produce manpower capable of creating self-employment by making timely plans and courses and its effective implementation.

He expressed the belief that the university would be able to maintain good financial and managerial governance by making proper management of physical infrastructure, effective operation of educational programs and qualified manpower.
