Maoist leader Banjade dies in road accident

CPN (Maoist) central member Ram Prasad Banjade (Tankamani) has died at the age of 55 in a road accident today.

While returning to Butwal from Dang, a bus (Na 7 Kha 906) coming from east to west hit Banjade's motorcycle (Lu 26 Pa 5898) at around 9 last night. According to Nirmal GC, coordinator of the Maoist center in Rupendehi, Banjade succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Lumbini City Hospital in Butwal.

The accident occurred at Butwal Jitgadhi near his house while returning from a meeting for the injured and disabled in Dang. Leaders of the Maoist Center and Lumbini Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC have paid homage to the body of Banjade and given condolences to his family. Banjade had been involved in underground politics since the Maoist armed conflict.

Leader Banjade's funeral and final rituals are scheduled to be performed at Magarghat in Tilottama today. Born in Arghakhanchi Dharapani, Banjade has a wife, a son, and a daughter.
