CPN (Maoist Center) elections will also be held in Province 1 for the selection of leadership. Due to lack of consensus, preparations have been made to hold elections today.

On the other hand, the Maoist Central Provincial Committee is going to have a meeting. Leaders have said that nine office bearers will be elected after the meeting. A 271-member provincial committee was announced after the decision on the office bearers was not finalized at the first provincial convention. Committee members will vote for nine office bearers out of three dozen aspirants.

Ganesh Upreti, a candidate for the post of state secretary, said that a meeting of leaders is being held to prepare for the election. A discussion was held on Tuesday between the task force formed to decide the office bearers, the central members of State 1 and the aspirants for leadership. Forty aspiring office bearers participated in the discussion.

Harka Bahadur Lawati, Shiva Kumar Dangi, Mokshahang Menyangbo, Dhruv Budhathoki, Dewan Chamling and Mohan Kumar Khatri are among the contenders for the post.
