The CPN (UML) has proposed the provision for people to get basic training before getting party membership.

Party organisational report presented by party general secretary Ishwor Pokharel in ongoing party statute general convention that started on Friday in Godavari, Lalitpur contains the proposal in this regard.

The proposal stressed the need for party membership expansion. It also stated that the attraction of youths to parties has increased after 20 December 2020 and there is a need to link them with party activities. The number of party members has increased to around 600,000 from 256,772 when the party's ninth general convention was organised.

The general convention that will conclude on Sunday will endorse party political reports, organisational reports, and statute amendment proposals. Over 6,000 representatives are participating in it.

Various 10 groups are scheduled to discuss all three proposals today itself. Party Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, general secretary Pokharel, and deputy general secretary Bishnu Prasad Poudel are scheduled to respond to queries raised relating to the reports tomorrow.
