Flights cancelled after floods at Biratnagar Airport

Around 100 Kathmandu-Biratnagar flights scheduled for today have to be canceled due to bad weather.

As all the wards of Biratnagar Metropolitan City has been affected by the flooding of the river including Kesaliya for the past two days, air service providers have issued statement expressing their inability to conduct flights for the day.

The flight has been affected due to flooding in the terminal building of the airport and also on the runway.

Also, houses have been submerged due to floods in the settlements. Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have rescued 16 people from the roof of a tree and a house this morning.

Janardan GC, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Morang, said that the rescue operation was underway.
