German prosecutors said on Monday, February 15, 2021, they have charged five Tajik men with being members of the Islamic State group.

The German government has lifted the travel restriction that was imposed on visitors from five countries including Nepal where the new variant of the coronavirus had been detected.

The Robert Koch Institute, the public health institute of Germany, has removed the names of five countries from the list of ‘virus variant countries’. Germany had first included India in the list towards the end of April and then added Nepal and the United Kingdom. Similarly, Portugal and Russia were also added to the ‘virus variant countries’ list on June 29.

With the list being revised visitors from the abovementioned five countries can now travel to Germany. If the passengers can furnish proof they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus or have recovered from COVID-19 then they will not have to stay in isolation.

Meanwhile, those who have not received their vaccinations will have to stay in 10-day quarantine and if their PCR test is negative on the fifth day of the isolation then they will not have to further stay in quarantine.

Germany will from Wednesday reclassify the five countries including Nepal as ‘high-incidence countries’.
